Police Department Provides Update On Reported Assault
UPDATE: All parties involved have now been identified, located, and interviewed (NOTE: As this case involves both juveniles and medical information, no further information will be released).

PREVIOUS NOTICE
June 11, 2026: The Oak Island Police Department is currently investigating a reported assault which occurred on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 around 10:00 PM in the area of E Oak Drive and NE 78th Street.
The victim was walking in the neighborhood when they encountered several juveniles riding electric bicycles and / or e-scooters. A brief argument occurred, which lead to the victim being pushed or knocked to the ground. Although initially leaving the scene under their own power, it later became apparent the victim had possibly suffered serious internal injuries.
Following the assault, the juveniles immediately left the area, heading east along Elizabeth Drive. They were described as white males, wearing helmets and dark colored clothing at the time. One was noted to be wearing an Adidas branded bag, while another was wearing a black shirt with the Monster energy drink logo.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and anyone who may have been in the area, witnessed any unusual activity, or can provide access to nearby home surveillance or vehicle camera recordings, is asked to please contact the Department’s Criminal Investigation Division at 910-278-5595.
