Welcome to the OKInsight Community Survey! This a comprehensive, community-wide survey, which is administered every two (2) years.
As suggested in the name (Oak Island + insight), the Survey provides insights and input from the local community on a wide range of issues impacting the overall quality of life. The Survey looks at multiple areas, including quality of life in the Town, satisfaction with core Town services, as well as perceptions of safety and value.
The most recent OKInsight Survey was conducted online from February 1 through February 28, 2026, and received 789 responses. While participation was lower than the previous Survey in 2023 due to the shift away from mailed outreach, the results provided a strong and useful snapshot of community sentiment. Findings should be interpreted as reflective of respondent perspectives and are most valuable for identifying trends, priorities, and areas of strength and opportunity.
Respondents represented a mix of full-time residents, seasonal residents, and non-resident property owners, offering a broad perspectives on community priorities and service delivery.
