June 8, 2026 • Burn Ban Now In Effect

Published on June 08, 2026

Brun Ban Notice Graphic

Effective Immediately and until further notice, the Town of Oak Island has issued a temporary BURN BAN for all areas within the Town limits, coinciding with the Burn Ban issued by Brunswick County for all unincorporated areas effective as of 5:00 PM on Monday, June 8, 2026.

This ban prohibits all open burning within the Town limits. (Reminder, Beach Bonfire Permits are currently not permitted as they are out of season)

As noted by Brunswick County, Current and future weather forecast models indicate conditions that are not favorable to open burning, particularly due to increasing drought conditions and fire danger risks for this week. The burn ban does not apply to any open burning permits issued by the North Carolina Forest Service.

This notice will be updated as conditions change.

For additional questions on this burn Ban or more information on fire safety in general, contact the Oak Island Fire Department through the Contact Form at OakIslandNC.gov/CONTACT.
