NOTICE: June 10, 2026 Town Council Meeting Agenda Now Available

The Oak Island Town Council will hold its next regular meeting on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers, located on the second floor of Town Hall at 4601 E Oak Island Drive.

REMINDER: This is a change from the usual meeting date of the second Tuesday of the month, and is for ONLY for the June regular meeting.

PRESENTATIONS, PROCLAMATIONS AND RECOGNITIONS

  • Resolution of Appreciation for Town Manager Kathryn Adams Upon Her Retirement: Council will present Ms. Adams with a Resolution of Appreciation for her work with the Town of Oak Island. 
  • Presentation -- ABC Board: A member of the ABC Board will share information on the Board’s activities. 
  • Presentation on Williamson Tract Development -- Rock Tower Partners: Developers for the Williamson Tract will give an overview of their plans for the property.

COUNCIL REPORTS (MAYOR & COUNCIL)

I. CONSENT AGENDA

  1. Approval of Minutes (April 23, 2026 - Special Meeting/Budget Workshop; April 28, 2026 - Special Meeting/Budget Workshop; May 12, 2026 - Public Hearings & Regular Meeting; and May 26, 2026 - Special Meeting/Budget Public Hearing)
  2. Approval of Resolution of Appreciation for Kathryn Adams: The Resolution is included here for formal adoption. 
  3. Consideration of Resolution Declaring Certain Property Surplus and Authorizing Its Disposition By Private Sale (Fire Truck): The truck will be sold to the fire department in Boiling Spring Lakes. 
  4. Consideration of Amendment to the Paid Parking Map to Add Paid Parking Spaces at the Canal Crossover Lots: Parking spaces at the canal crossovers would become paid parking spaces. 
  5. Consideration of the FY 2025-26 Paving and Resurfacing Contract: The Town issued a Request for Proposals for the work, and Council is asked to award the bid and approve the contract. The list of streets to be paved (as documented in the street paving assessment done by a third party), is included as an attachment in the agenda packet. 
  6. Approval of Budget Ordinance Amendment -- Solid Waste ($331,500 for Green For Life services): The Budge Amendment is to account for increased revenues and expenditures for the remainder of this fiscal year.  

II. COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS

  • Council will consider applications for open seats on the Environmental Advisory Committee. Look for vacancies on the Boards & Committee page at OakIslandNC.gov/BOARDS

III. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS

IV. OLD BUSINESS

  1. Consideration of Matthew's Ministry Lease: Council will consider an annual lease for this organization, which uses the former Development Services/Yaupon Beach Town Hall Building.

V. NEW BUSINESS

  1. Consideration of Adopting the FY 2025-2026 Budget, Approving the FY 2025-2026 Budget: Council must approve the budget by the end of June for the next fiscal year, and Council approval is needed for the Fee Schedule as well. 
  2. Consideration of Selecting a Realtor: A Request for Proposals was issued for real estate services, and Council may take action to select a Realtor to work with. 
  3. Consideration of Direction to Staff Regarding the Disposition of Town-Owned Parcels: The Town owns two lots on Elizabeth Drive that Council may want to consider offering for sale.

VI. CLOSED SESSION to Discuss Specific Personnel pursuant to N.C.G.S. 143-318.11(a)(6).
