From now through September 30, 2026 the Town of Oak Island is inviting artists to bring their creativity to the community by submitting proposals for a mural at the 801 Ocean Event Center. This project aims to enhance the Center’s visual appeal while celebrating Oak Island’s vibrant culture and community spirit.
The mural will be installed on the east side exterior wall, facing the Oak Island Pier next door, and will serve as a welcoming and inspiring focal point for residents and visitors as they enter the Beach Access Location for Womble Street.
Artists with experience in mural design and installation should include with their submission a letter of interest, a portfolio of past work, and references. Artists are welcome to include a proposed budget with their submission. Artist selection will take place on October 15, 2026, with a mural completion deadline of January 15, 2026.
