On Tuesday & Wednesday, August 18 & 19, 2026, the Town of Oak Island Public Works Department will perform Mosquito Fogging operations, beginning at approximately 6:00 PM in the following Zones:
Weather permitting, fogging will be performed in accordance with the NC Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services and the NC Pesticide Board standards, to combat growing populations.
During operation, please DO NOT approach the Mosquito Management vehicle, or try to stop the driver to ask questions. The fog (mist) will dissipate quickly throughout the treatment area, usually between 5-30 minutes. Exemptions from fogging operations are offered to verified Apiarists (Beekeepers) who have registered through the NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Apiary Program.
This schedule is NOT a guarantee of if or when Fogging will occur. Operations heavily depend on the immediate wind and weather forecasts and can be canceled or rescheduled on short notice due changing conditions.
