NOTICE: As of Saturday, May 9, the Summer Collection Schedule is now in effect for Garbage & Recycling in Collection Zones 6, 7, & 8. With this change, Garbage collection in these Zones will now being provided every Wednesday & Saturday, while Recycling collection will take place every Saturday. Collection will switch back to the regular schedule starting on Saturday, September 26.
The Town of Oak Island has a total of eight (8) Garbage & Recycling Collection Zones. The more heavily trafficked areas of Zones 6, 7, & 8 essentially cover all of the beach-adjacent areas, including Beach Dr., Dolphin Dr., Pelican Dr. and Ocean Dr. While most of the year these areas are provided garbage collection service on one day of the week, during the Summer they are switched switch to a twice per week to cover the higher volumes.
