On Thursday, October 15, 2026 the Pledge The Pink Breast Cancer Awareness & Fundraising Event officially began in the Town of Oak Island. This is a privately coordinated and heavily attended event, which is expected to draw thousands of participants and supporters for multiple fundraising activities.
While a majority of the event will take place within the Middleton Park Complex, located at 4610 E Dolphin Drive, there are several upcoming activities which could impact traffic and travel in all areas of Town.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the large number of participants and supporters, traffic impacts may not be limited to these areas.
To ensure the safety of participants and motorists alike, the Oak Island Police Department will provide onsite assistance at various locations throughout the entire weekend. While no permanent street closures or detours are planned, traffic will be heavily monitored, with temporary closures established as needed in busier times and route sections.
IMPORTANT: Although the Police Department will be assisting with traffic control, it is important for drivers to remain alert, be patient, and follow ANY directions given onsite! Please remember to allow a little more time when traveling to and throughout Oak Island. If directions are followed, delays should be minimal.
