ORIGINAL NOTICE

Starting on Monday, April 27, 2026 and running through the week ahead, Dune Vegetation Planting operations will be taking place as part of the 2025 / 2026 Beach Nourishment Project

During these operations, a vehicle and trailer marked with the Dune Doctor logo (pictured), will be driving on the beach as crews work to plant new vegetation on the dune areas. This new vegetation (sea oats) will help to stabilize and secure the dunes, using plants largely grown from seeds harvested locally on Oak Island, to help ensure maximum viability. As with the Sand Leveling Operations, crews are coordinating with the Oak Island Sea Turtle Protection Program, as the timing closely aligns with the official start of the Sea Turtle Nesting Season on May 1.

SAFETY: While this work will NOT cause beach or access closures, it WILL involve a single vehicle and multiple workers. To help ensure work is completed on time and in a safe manner, beachgoers in the immediate area should remain a safe distance from any equipmentDO NOT try to stop vehicles or speak with any crews working onsite, as this will delay completion.
