General Statement of Duties

The Part-Time 801 Event Coordinator Assistant is responsible for assisting with the daily 

operations and event activities at the Event Center. This position serves as the on-site 

representative for the Town and Event Center during events and is responsible for ensuring 

that all events run smoothly by providing excellent customer service, communication with 

clients and vendors, assisting with event setup and breakdown, and maintaining the overall 

readiness and cleanliness of the facility. 

This position requires flexibility and availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays 

based on the event schedule. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Serve as the on-site Town/Event Center representative during scheduled events. 

• Provide excellent customer service to clients, guests, vendors, and event attendees.

• Communicate effectively with event clients, caterers, DJs, decorations, vendors, and other service providers.

• Assist with event setup and breakdown, including arranging and moving tables, chairs, and other event equipment.

• Ensure event spaces are properly prepared prior to client arrival and restored after the conclusion of the event. 

• Perform opening and closing responsibilities for the facility. 

• Monitor the facility during events to ensure policies, procedures, and safety guidelines are followed.

• Respond to questions, concerns, or issues that arise during events and resolve problems in a professional manner. 

• Perform basic cleaning duties, including trash removal, sweeping, wiping surfaces, restroom checks, and the general upkeep of the event space. 

• Inspect the facility before, during, and after events to ensure cleanliness, organization, and readiness. 

• Report maintenance concerns, damages, or incidents to management. 

• Assist with inventory and organization of event equipment and supplies. 

• Support Town-sponsored programs, special events, and activities as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

• Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills. 

• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement.

• Ability to multitask and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to maintain professionalism and composure during events. 

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, vendors, coworkers, and the public.

• Basic knowledge of facility operations and event coordination preferred. 


Desirable Education, Experience, and Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.

• Previous customer service, hospitality, event coordination, or facility operations experience preferred. 

• Must have a valid NC driver’s license.

• This is a part-time position requiring a flexible work schedule that may include daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday hours based on event needs and facility operations. 


Physical Requirements

Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational support functions of sitting, standing, walking, fingering, reaching, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Physical effort is required to stand and walk for extended periods of time as well as the ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, and pull. Must have the ability to move tables, chairs, and event-related equipment, and to climb ladders. Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Work is typically performed in both standard office and outdoor environments, with potential exposure to adverse weather conditions and extremes of heat and cold.
