If you're an avid recreation enjoyer, or follow the Town's Official Facebook page, then you may have already met our NEW Parks & Recreation Director, Todd Tetreault, as he jumped right in during his first week on the job to help open up the Splashpad for the 2026 Season!
Leading the reunified Parks & Recreation Department, Todd comes to Oak Island from Brunswick County, where he previously served as the Parks Maintenance Manager. He is a Certified Parks & Recreation Executive (one of just over 400 nationwide) who holds multiple master’s degrees in Parks, Recreation, Tourism, & Sports Management, and Business Administration.
He also holds degrees in Environmental Horticulture & Turfgrass Management, along with two decades of experience as a Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Golf Course Superintendent overseeing championship-level courses ... skills he looks forward to putting to good use over at the Oak Island Par 3 Golf course!
A self-described "homebody" in his free time, he makes as much effort as possible to be outdoors and in-the-action when on the job! While there are some major department projects he will be taking on in the coming months, his goal each day is to make every park visit and program experience better than the day before!
