On Wednesday, September 30, 2026, the Oak Island Police Department, in coordination with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), executed a search warrant at a residence on NW 3rd Street in Oak Island.
The operation was initiated after authorities received a tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding the possession and dissemination of illegal material involving minors.
Following the search, Mitchell Tyler Moore, 44, of Oak Island, NC, was taken into custody, and charged with six counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. An initial bond hearing is set for Thursday, October 1, 2026.
