On Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 2:00 PM, Oak Island Town Clerk Lisa Stites, was honored by the North Carolina Association of municipal Clerks (NCAMC) with a Tree Dedication Ceremony., in recognition of her being named Clerk of The Year by the Association for 2025.

As part of that honor, the NCAMC will usually plants a tree or dedicates an existing tree in the named clerk's hometown. Graciously accepting that honor, Stites opted to have the tree just outside of her office window at Town Hall dedicated.
During the Tree Dedication Ceremony, Mayor Chris Brown joined representatives from the NCAMC, in providing remarks honoring the hard work and dedication shown in through Lisa's years of service to the Town of Oak Island.
As part of the dedication, a commemorative plaque will be installed, forever instilling her legacy of service to both the Town of Oak Island and the entire State Association.
