Burn Ban In Effect: All Beach Bonfire Permits Canceled

Published on March 29, 2026

Brun Ban Notice Graphic

Effective immediately and until further notice, the Town of Oak Island has issued a temporary BURN BAN for all areas within the Town limits, coinciding with the Burn Ban issued by Brunswick County for all unincorporated areas on Saturday, March 28, 2026.

This ban prohibits all open burning within the Town limits, and CANCELS all previously submitted Beach Bonfire Permits.

As noted by Brunswick County, current and future weather forecast models indicate conditions that are not favorable to open burning, particularly due to increasing wind and fire danger risks. The burn ban does not apply to any open burning permits issued by the North Carolina Forest Service.

This notice will be updated as conditions improve and the Burn Ban is lifted.
